13 Signs of Spiritual Awakening

Summary:

What exactly is a spiritual awakening? These signs help you recognize the unmistakable shift in your consciousness.

1. You’re Becoming Aware of the Present Moment and Your Physical Body

Since time is an illusion in a linear sense, the awareness of the present moment is the first step to spiritual awakening. It’s also known as mindfulness, one of the virtues of the spiritual path.

When you become aware of the present moment, you awake to the very nature of reality.

If now is all there is, and everything is happening simultaneously, then you can only truly exist when you are present to it.

We often hear about being present, but what does it mean?

Jeffrey Allen, a world-renowned energy healer, and creator of Duality Energy Training, explains that being present means being present in your body because your physical body has both time and space.

Spiritual awakening implies that you become aware of your physical body as a precious gift given to you to help you navigate this physical reality. So you are no longer spaced out but powerfully present with yourself and others, at any given moment.

2. You’re Becoming Aware of Your Emotions Without Suppressing Them

Becoming aware of your emotions is different from being emotional or compulsive.

Dr. Michael Beckwith, an internationally renowned spiritual teacher, and thought-leader, affirms that victims are caught up in compulsive behaviors because they don’t want to feel their emotions.

Instead of feeling them, they sublimate and suppress them.

When you are spiritually awakened, you become aware of your emotions without labeling them negative or positive. You acknowledge and accept them without suppressing them.

Unlike victims, who believe that they cannot escape from pain, this level of awareness sets you free and allows you to choose your emotions and create the life you want.

3. You’re Dropping the Victimhood Mentality

You are creating your reality and reality is creating you.

― Nassim Haramein

According to Dr. Michael Beckwith, there are four stages of spiritual growth and development, and the victimhood mentality is the first stage, where most people are.

At this stage, you think that everything is happening to you as if some external forces or circumstances determine your destiny.

In Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, it’s known as a Power-God stage, where humans believe that if they approach these supernatural beings correctly, they will perform magic for them and make their life less challenging.

But when you take full responsibility for your thoughts, emotions, and actions, you take full responsibility for the reality you’re creating. It’s the only way to become awakened to your true essence – the essence of the creator, not a victim.

4. You’re Observing Your Thoughts and Behaviors

Since you know your perception and experiences are determined by subconscious programming and conditioning, you start observing your thoughts and behaviors.

Instead of going through life on autopilot without giving much thought to who you are, you become aware of all the ways you do your life.

This is a powerful stage of Manifestor Consciousness when you learn the sacred laws of the Universe that allow you to reprogram and rewire previously held beliefs and perceptions.

It’s like switching the light in a dark room – the light of your spiritual awakening.

5. You’re Deeply Grateful for No Reason

If you take abundance from abundance, abundance still remains. ― Bhagavad Gita

Appreciation of reality is a definition of a spiritual awakening. Not only is it profound but, most importantly, unconditional.

If you are deeply grateful for your life just the way it is, without any particular reason, it’s a sign of spiritual awakening.

Once you become awakened to the idea that the most precious things in life have been already given to you in abundance, you start noticing them all around you.

6. You’re Seeing Yourself in Others

The idea of separation is the biggest crisis facing humanity today, because it produces all the other crises.

― Neale Donald Walsh

Modern-day spiritual messenger, Neale Donald Walsh, explains that the biggest obstacle to our human expansion has everything to do with the illusion of separation.

He says, “just like our fingers are differentiated from each other, but are one with the hand.”

Spiritual awakening implies transcendence of the illusion of separation – not only do you see yourself as one with life but also with others around you.

7. You’re Having More Compassion

When you become spiritually awakened, you relate to people with more compassion.

Michael Beckwith defines relationships as joint participation in the good of life. He compares it with the two fish swimming in the ocean. In the same way, we are all swimming in limitless love.

This new perspective allows you to see your relationships as a field of love and participate in this field through kindness, compassion, understanding, and support.

8. You’re Noticing Synchronicities

Synchronicity is the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer.

― Karl Yung

When you live on autopilot, it feels like your life follows some scenario you have no control over. Sometimes you get lucky; sometimes, you don’t. Both happen accidentally or due to some strange coincidence.

Yet, these seemingly random coincidences aren’t random at all. A great mystic Karl Yung called it a phenomenal sign that’s deeply personal to your experience.

When you experience spiritual awakening, you open yourself up to the non-accidental nature of those random phenomena.

9. You’re Following Your Intuition

I believe in intuitions and inspirations…I sometimes FEEL that I am right. I do not KNOW that I am.

― Albert Einstein

We all experience gut feelings, but we tend to ignore them as something irrelevant to common sense. Forbes magazine shared that intuition is the highest form of intelligence there is.

Sonia Choquette, a globally celebrated six-sensory consultant, explains that most people don’t want to use their intuition because it never tells us what we want to hear. She says, “it tells us what we need to hear.”

When you become spiritually awakened, not only do you hear what you need to hear by following your intuition, you become a genuinely sixth-sensory superhuman.

10. You’re Cultivating Self-Love

Love your neighbor as yourself.

― Bible

When you experience spiritual awakening, you realize that self-love is a virtue, not a vice of a selfish individual, because you can love another person as much as you love yourself.

It means that this commandment is feasible only when you consciously cultivate self-love as a foundation for your spiritual growth.

At the end of the day, if everything is you, and you are everything, by loving yourself more, you love everything and everyone around you more.

11. You’re Being You

Most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything – love, work, money, parenting, sex, health and more.

― Vishen, founder and CEO of Mindvalley

You have a deep sense of self-worth because you no longer conform to cultural norms or bullshit rules that are holding you back from speaking your truth and following the desires of your heart.

With the recognition that you are born unique and worthy, the act of being yourself becomes the act of living from your awakened state.

12. You’re Aspiring to Serve Others

Human beings are wired to connect – and we have the most complex and interesting social behavior out of all animals.

― Michael Platt

When you awaken to the idea of oneness, you become truly oriented to serve others. Studies show that humans are hardwired for altruism and connection.

Serving others doesn’t imply dropping your agenda. It means that you include others in your agenda as the only way to feel intrinsically connected and fulfilled.

This is why the path to awakening isn’t a path of a master but a servant.

13. You’re Embracing Abundance

It’s your moral responsibility to become rich.

― Mahatria Ra

It sounds counterintuitive, but an aspiration to become rich signifies that you become awakened to your divine nature.

Michael Beckwith affirms, “It’s your birthright to be abundant in all aspects of your life because you were born as a child of God.”

When you remember your divine nature, you take your level of abundance as a moral responsibility.

You use money as a valuable tool to become rich and enrich the lives of others.

Continue Your Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual awakening isn’t a linear journey, nor is it the easiest one. It’s painful in the beginning because you are shedding everything you used to perceive as yourself and your reality. The good news is that spiritual awakening shifts your consciousness to a new level of appreciation.

And from this space of deep gratitude and remembrance, you can intentionally envision your life.
